CONCERT REVIEW: COIN LIVE IN CHARLOTTE
On November 7th, COIN brought their “I’m Not Afraid of Music Anymore” tour to Charlotte, showing its residents endless love and energy. The band came to The Fillmore in support of their newest album, which was released in September of this year, and played hits from it along with some fan favorites. With newer songs such as “Along for the Ride” and “Chapstick,” and older favorites like “Malibu 1992” and “Crash My Car,” the venue came alive with the performance COIN put on.
The lighting was interesting and dynamic, creating intriguing shadows and visuals throughout the entire show. Along with a strong technical performance, lead singer Chase Lawrence knows how to give an audience a show. Each song, no matter its age, is sung with such emotion that it feels like you are hearing it for the first time—even as a long-term fan. Between his voice, the electric sounds the band produces, and the way they got the entire venue jumping up and down, the show was non-stop. Filled with music, dancing, learning, and loving, Charlotte enjoyed COIN’s long-awaited return to the city.
